DOMESTIC VIOLNCE

The project aims on focusing strongly to continuous prevent violence against women; prevention of violence in families before it occurs through community education and linkages. COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROJECT

The project aims to raise community awareness on comorbidity mental health and drugs use issues and reduce its stigma in the African communities. OZ-BURUNDIANS SUICIDE PREVENTION PROJECT

This project aims to prevent suicide in the Burundian community through delivering a range of strategies aiming at capacity building in the wider Burundian community particularly young, adults and older Burundians from 16 to 60+ years old. FREE ADULT COMPUTER AND ENGLISH LESSONS

Those programs are run on Mondays and Wednesdays each week from 3pm to 6pm. The project is a part of partnership between Community Access and Services SA and The Association of the Burundian Community of SA through ACE funding. For more information contact Elias KABURA 

PROJECT NAME: RIGHT RIDE AND WALK PROGRAM FOR REFUGEES

Community come together to ride bikes every week. There are a number of bicycles that community members can borrow or come together to ride as a group. For more information, contact the office. (Funded by Transport SA )

HOW TO VOLUNTEER

Like anywhere else, Volunteers play an important role in the Association of the Burundian Community of South Australia (ABCSA). The Burundian community has a range of activities which require support form volunteers. Those include interpreting, transport, housing, church services and other activities. Currently ABCSA need Volunteers to help in the following activities:

  • Community fundraising
  • Providing support to frail people
  • Interpreting and filling out forms
  • Assist clients with transport issues
  • Assisting clients in the ABCSA office
  • Organising community events,
  • Work at reception
  • Community garden
  • Bike program
  • Administration
  • Website editor
